Happy Very Early Sunday

I went to bed at 9:30 PM Saturday night so, naturally, by 2:30 AM I am wide awake. I am not worried about this, because it will last about an hour and then I’ll be out again. My sleeping patterns are starting to match the baby’s instead of the other way around.

David and I bought a car today. It’s a used car, a very pretty one, too. We toyed with the idea of getting a really cheapo car, but we just weren’t completely convinced. We both secretly wanted to get a good car, a reliable car, a car that we wouldn’t be afraid to put a baby in. And right now was actually a great time to do it financially, so we went shopping.

Well… we went shopping for fish filters, really. There was a dealership across the street from the pet store, and we decided to start there. We didn’t love the car we picked until after we haggled down to a lovable price. I learned that they really do leave quite a bit of room for negotiation, even after the fourth time they tell you their boss isn’t going to lose any more money. We ended up at a great price, with a good warranty and the car is a pretty gold color, so it all turned out great.

And I learned that spending hours at a car dealership with no food and only occasional drinks is not a good idea when you’re 6.5 months pregnant. At least not for me. I paid the price later, when my body desperately wanted to stabilize the blood sugar levels by eating the food in front of me, and at the same time wanted to vomit from the effort of eating it.
For the record, when I get to that point I have to eat very, very slowly. If I don’t work through the discomfort, the sensation turns into abdominal pain, and eventually vomiting. I learned this a few months ago so I was able to avoid the mess.

All in all, a very educational Saturday.
